Bellis staff has been carefully monitoring the situation and trying to see whether we could continue with our camp, given the ever-changing guidelines for crowds and social distancing and the logistics of our rehearsal rooms, dining hall, cabin sleeping quarters, and recreation options. These concerns, coupled with the realization that our host site, Angeles Crest Christian Camp, is unable to guarantee that they will be open August 2-8 (having not yet officially received clearance from the government agencies), leaves us with no choice, but to cancel camp. It was a very tough decision BUT it was also the right decision. Safety for everyone while at camp, is our utmost priority. Accepted counselors, junior counselors, and campers, please check your emails for information regarding next steps.
Bellis Music Camp was founded in 1957 by music educator, Lawrence Bellis. Its purpose is to serve young musicians by creating an atmosphere where musical and social skills can be combined to bring out the best in each young person. This week-long, sleep-away summer camp is located in the San Gabriel Mountains, serving middle school aged music students throughout Southern California. Campers participate in a variety of ensembles, theory classes, and recreational activities. The week culminates in a concert for our campers' friends and family.
